Community Profile
Midwest City is a growing, progressive community located just a few miles from downtown Oklahoma City. It is bounded on the south by Interstate 40 and on the north by U.S. Highway 62. We are just minutes east of "America's Crossroads" where I-35, I-40 and I-44 intersect. With over 57,000 citizens, Midwest City is the 8th most populated city in the state.
Tinker Air Force Base is our nearest neighbor to the south. It employs over 26,000 Oklahomans with average incomes exceeding $55,000 per year. The base's annual statewide economic impact is estimated at over $4.4 billion dollars, which creates local retail and hospitality markets like no other in the OKC Metro.
Our unemployment rate is well below the national average and our citizens enjoy one of the smallest tax burdens in the country. There is a good selection of housing stock with pricing to match every income. Traffic moves safely and efficiently in Midwest City, and there is far less congestion compared to many other Metro communities. These factors, in additional to great cultural and entertainment opportunities, have created a quality of life seldom seen in other cities of similar size.
Patriotism is in the air in Midwest City as we are the premier service community to Tinker AFB. As such, we have quietly attracted the "Who's Who" of the aerospace industry, which has made us home to one of the greatest concentrations of technology companies in the state of Oklahoma.
